A Pennsylvania man and woman were accused after being stopped on a New Jersey expressway while transporting 14,000 suspected fentanyl tablets, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Edgar Holguin-Reyes, 30, and Yakayra Reyes, 27, were arrested on Sunday evening and accused with possessing fentanyl tablets with the intent to distribute.
Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force discovered a vehicle used for drug transportation and distribution at 6:35 p.m.
Local police assisted in stopping the vehicle on I-287 in Mahwah. According to officials, the tablets were discovered during a court-authorized search and have an estimated street value of $420,000.
Holguin-Reyes and Reyes have been charged with second-degree possession with intent to distribute fentanyl-laced pills.
