Arnold, Pa. – Police in Arnold responded to the 2200 block of Leishman Avenue just before 7:30 pm Sunday evening after a caller reported a physical domestic on a sidewalk.
According to the police criminal complaint, the caller stated the male half dragged a woman back into an apartment leaving a large puddle of blood on the sidewalk along with a trail of blood leading back into the apartment.
Arnold Police Officer Ryan Clark said officers did a knock and announce multiple times but nobody would come to the door. Police said due to a large amount of blood on the ground, officers made forced entry into the apartment.
Upon search, officers located the male half of the domestic identified as 52-year-old Clayton Fertig laying on the floor heavily intoxicated in a bedroom. The female victim was lying in the bathroom completely covered in blood. The victim told police Fertig was drinking and became mad at her and that Fertig punched her in the face multiple times. The victim had a laceration on the right side of her nose and was bleeding from the back of the head. Fertig was placed into custody, handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol unit.
New Kensington EMS arrived on scene and initially treated the victim but advised police she needed to be taken to the hospital due to losing consciousness and severe blood loss.
Fertig Charges: M2 Simple Assault 09/08/2019. Monetary bail was set at $25,000. Fertig was unable to post bail and currently resides in the Westmoreland County Jail and faces a preliminary hearing on September 19th at 1:45 pm before the Honorable District Magistrate Frank J. Pallone Jr.
