Washington Township man dies in house fire

Washington Township, Pa. – Westmoreland County Coroner, Kenneth A. Bacha, has released the following information on a fire related fatality. Bacha said James R. Indovina, a 74 y/o male of 251 Mamont Drive Washington Township died in a house fire early Thursday morning.

Witnesses observed smoke coming from the residence and contacted 911. Police and emergency medical personnel responded and forced entry into the residence discovering the decedent was in a rear room and extricated from the residence.

Deputy Coroner John A. Ackerman pronounced the decedent dead at the scene. An autopsy was performed by Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates on this date. Cause and manner of death will be pending official autopsy and toxicology results. Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.

Washington Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal also investigated.
