Two people injured in Springdale Township crash

Springdale Township, Pa. – Two people were injured and transported to the hospital after a 2-vehicle collision in the 2800 block of Freeport Road just South of the New Kensington bridge near David’s Diner about 5:00 pm Monday afternoon.

A witness to the crash told AKVNEWS.COM one driver apparently hit a slick spot on the roadway and crossed the centerline striking a Northbound vehicle. Radio reports indicated 2 patients trapped in their vehicles.

At the crash scene, rescue crews removed both individuals while firefighters cleared car part debris from the roadway. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Traffic was halted at the New Kensington Bridge by East Deer Police and was also detoured at Riddle Run Road for about 1.5 hours while police processed the scene. A third vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor damage to the right front fender.
