The final two defendants charged in the murder of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson in 2018 are scheduled to be sentenced on Friday.
A jury convicted Mark Price, 30, and Antonio Murchison, 31, of first-degree murder and numerous other charges in Wilson’s death.
Court records show that both men are members of the street gang “Wellington Park Crew.”
On July 16, 2018, Price, Murchison, and three others drove to Clay Terrace in Northwest Washington, DC. They were armed with guns.
Makiyah was fatally shot while sitting on the front steps of her home. Police said the shooting was gang-related and Makiyah was not the intended target.
Several more people were hurt in the shooting.
Officials said that no witnesses were willing to provide information about the shooters’ identities, despite some of them witnessing the men prepare to shoot.
According to court papers, Quanisha Ramsuer, 31, has spent most of her life in the Wellington Park area and knows the most of the accused. She was also caught on video speaking closely with one of the people who planned the attack.
Ramsuer was later found guilty of obstruction of justice in connection with the investigation because she refused to identify the people she was interacting with.
A total of 11 people were arrested for Makiyah’s murder.
