O’Hara Township, Allegheny County – This morning at approximately 10:45 a.m., the O’Hara Township Police and paramedics were dispatched to an address in the 300 block of Marberry Drive in response to a 9-1-1 call about a man hit by a falling tree.
There they found a 33-year-old male who had been struck and pinned under a falling tree. He was extracted from the tree and pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Allegheny County Police were requested to assist with the investigation. Tree Masters Tree Service had been contracted to remove trees at the address. While they were removing one of the trees, it fell unexpectedly and struck another tree.
That tree, in turn, fell and struck the victim who was standing about 40 feet away. The victim was pinned under the tree for a time before he was able to be freed. The victim was an employee of the tree service. The matter is still under investigation and no determinations have been made concerning the outcome.
