Traffic snarled after crash in East Deer Township

East Deer Township, Pa. – There were no injuries to report after a single-vehicle crash on Freeport Road in East Deer Township Wednesday afternoon about 2:00 pm.

Sources at the scene said the driver fell asleep at the wheel shearing off the utility pole causing extensive damages to the 4-door Dodge SUV. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Electrical power to the pole had to be deactivated before tow crews could remove the vehicle. Comcast and Verizon were also notified about the incident.

East Deer Township Police were assisted by Summit Hose of Tarentum for traffic control.
