Terminated employee allegedly pulls fire alarm on way out door

New Kensington, Pa. – A New Kensington man is charged with a Misdemeanor 1, False Alarm To Agency Of Public Safety after being terminated from his job at a local plant on May 31st, 2019.

Identified at Tymir Mitchell, age 20 New Kensington, was terminated from employment at Unifirst Corporation and while leaving the building, allegedly pulled the fire alarm as he was exiting the building.

Video from the incident was reviewed by plant authorities, who in turn notified New Kensington Police. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled on 06/27/2019 @ 1:15 pm before the Honorable Magisterial District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.

PA Title 18: § 4905. False alarms to agencies of public safety.

(a) Offense defined.–A person commits an offense if he knowingly causes a false alarm of fire or other emergency to be transmitted to or within any organization, official or volunteer, for dealing with emergencies involving danger to life or property.

(b) Grading.–An offense under this section is a misdemeanor of the first degree unless the transmission of the false alarm of fire or other emergency occurs during a declared state of emergency and the false alarm causes the resources of the organization to be diverted from dealing with the declared state of emergency, in which case the offense is a felony of the third degree.
