Erie, Pa. – According to the Erie County Department of Health, effective July 8, 2019, swimming has been restricted at Beach 8 in Presque Isle State Park due to elevated levels of Escherichia coli (E.Coli).
Water is tested twice a week for public safety and advisory signs are posted alerting the public of potential health hazards. When there is a swimming advisory, life guards are on duty and visitors are allowed to enter the water at their own digression. Authorities say the restriction will remain in effect while levels are high. Re-testing of the water will be performed daily.
Visitors are permitted to use the beach for sunbathing and recreational purposes while the water restriction is in place.
