Shooting in Stowe Township, one in custody

Stowe Twp., Allegheny County – At approximately 2:00 pm today (1-6-2020) there was a shooting in the 1100 block of Dohrman St. in Stowe Twp., approximately two blocks from the high school. The Stowe Twp. and McKees Rocks police were in the vicinity of the high school and heard the shooting.

The officers were able to respond quickly and learned a black vehicle was fleeing the area that may have been involved in the shooting. Approximately three blocks from the scene the Stowe Police stopped a black car in Ann Alley. The driver of the car would not comply with the officer’s requests and fled the area on foot. Other officers gave foot pursuit.

The individual began running through yards of homes and jumping fences. At one point the individual ran at one the Stowe officers prompting him to fire his handgun. The individual was grazed by the bullet and taken into custody. He was then treated and released from a local hospital. He will be lodged in the Allegheny County Jail to await processing on other outstanding warrants.

One of the vehicles involved has been determined to be a black Chevrolet Spark with Missouri plate VD9L6S. This vehicle will have heavy bullet damage (multiple holes) to the front windshield and possibly be missing the driver’s side window. Anyone sighting the vehicle should call 911 immediately.

The vehicle stopped in the Brighton Heights section of Pittsburgh has been determined not to have been involved in the Stowe Twp. shooting. The Pittsburgh Police are investigating that incident.

To this point in the investigation, we have no reports of any gunshot victims from the initial shooting. The motive for the shooting is not exceptionally clear and the investigation continues.
