Robbery in Harmar Township Monday morning

Harmar Twp., Allegheny County – At approximately 9:57 am today (11-25-2019) the Harmar Twp. Police were dispatched to the Meadows Off Track Betting facility on Anchor Dr. in response to a 9-1-1 call about a robbery. The Harmar Police secured the establishment and requested the investigative assistance of the Allegheny County Police.

Detectives from the County Police responded to the scene. It has been determined that a lone female employee arrived for work and began to prepare the establishment for the day’s business. The building was still locked at this point and she believed she was alone. As she was moving about the interior, a man encountered the female, demanded her car keys and barricaded her in a room with no phone. She described the man as having some sort of mask covering his face.

The robber then collected paper currency from the safe and placed it in a black trash bag. He exited the building and used the woman’s vehicle to flee the area. That vehicle is described as a 2005 Ford Escape (SUV), dark gray in color, bearing PA Wildlife Conservation plate WR 23951 and a Slippery Rock sticker in the rear window.

The robber is described as a black male approximately 5’4” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket with the hood pulled up over a light color ball cap. There were no signs of forced entry into the structure and it is not clear how the robber gained entry.

The female victim was not injured.
