Texas authorities have increased the prize for information leading to the arrest of Jassim Abdul Hussain Al-Samawi, a 55-year-old criminal illegal immigrant from Iraq, to $6,000 in April.
Al-Samawi, wanted for a probation violation stemming from a prior arson conviction, is this month’s featured fugitive on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list.
Al-Samawi has a history of arrests in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex extending back to 2001, including allegations of unauthorized weapon possession, arson, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, terroristic threat, and criminal mischief. According to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), he was most recently arrested for criminal mischief in June 2022 by the Alvarado Police Department in Johnson County.
Al-Samawi stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has tattoos on both hands, arms, and his right leg. Authorities fear he may be frequenting homeless shelters in Fort Worth and Arlington.
The Governor’s Public Safety Office funds Texas Crime Stoppers, which pays cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest of people on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list. According to the press announcement, the DPS and other agencies captured 18 fugitives from these lists in 2025, with $22,000 in incentives offered for leads.
To be eligible for cash prizes, tips must be made in one of three ways: by phoning the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), sending an online tip through the DPS website, or posting a Facebook report. All tips are anonymous, and tipsters are given a tip number instead of their identity.
DPS investigators work with local law enforcement to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted list. The DPS website provides up-to-date lists and images.
