Police and detectives investigate abuse of 2 year-old child in New Kensington

New Kensington, Pa. – Police in New Kensington, along with the Westmoreland County Detectives Bureau filed charges against a New Kensington man after police and EMS crews were called to 1100 block of 5th Avenue, New Kensington, PA for an unresponsive two-year-old child on March 26th, 2020.

According to the police report, emergency personnel arrived on scene to find resident Keith Lilly performing CPR on a small child who was naked on the living room floor. The child was immediately transported to Children’s Hospital emergency room for life-saving measures and remains in the PICU as of the time of this press release. (4-15-2020).

The New Kensington Police and Westmoreland County Detectives have been investigating what led up to the incident on 3-26-20 as well as the call itself. The investigation is ongoing by New Kensington Detective Paul Manke and Westmoreland County Detective John W. Clark. The Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau is also conducting a parallel investigating of the situation.

On 4-03-20, Keith Lilly, Jr. also from 5th Avenue, New Kensington, PA. was arrested on two (2) counts of Aggravated Assault, a count of Endangering the Welfare of Children, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Mr. Lilly’s bond was set by Night Court District Justice Moore at $250,000. Lilly is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing in front of District Justice Frank Pallone in New Kensington on May 7th, 2020.
