The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at an East Germantown playground on Tuesday.
The incident led to the shooting and hospitalization of at least one person.
Around 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of East Woodlawn Avenue.
Officers arrived at the Lonnie Young Playground and found an 18-year-old guy with several gunshot wounds.
Police brought him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where his condition is critical.
According to preliminary findings, a group of juveniles, including a few females, got into a brawl.
They said more people joined in the struggle.
The fight escalated into a shooting.
Based on preliminary video, police believe there were two shooters who fired at each other.
When the incident occurred, approximately 40 youngsters were present in the playground area. There have been no reports of any injuries among those children.
Police discovered many fire cartridge casings at the location.
Police stopped many individuals for further interrogation.
