Pittsburgh, Allegheny County – On November 6, 2019, at approximately 10:41 p.m., Pittsburgh Police responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a domestic disturbance at an address in the 1600 block of Crucible St. in Crafton Heights. While responding, 9-1-1 dispatchers advised officers that the involved male possessed a firearm.
When the officers arrived, they heard gunshots inside the home and immediately began to set up a perimeter. The male then appeared at the front door of the residence and fired multiple times at the officers. One officer returned fire, striking the male at least once.
Officers secured the scene and rendered aid to the male until paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. There were an adult female and two juvenile children in the residence at the time of the incident. They were uninjured. The Allegheny County Police responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
The man who fired on responding officers was identified as 31-year-old Issa Abdus-Salaam. He will be charged with simple assault, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
