NKPD: 734 Stamp Bags of Herion seized in early morning drug raid in New Kensington

New Kensington, Pa. – Police in New Kensington, along with agents of the Attorney General’s Office, Harrison Township Police, Frazer Township Police and New Kensington Police department executed a drug search warrant at 6:00 am on 324 North Street seizing 734 stamp bags of heroin.

New Kensington Detective Sgt. Sam Long told AKVNEWS.COM suspect Charles Jones, age 40 of 324 North Street & Dandre Thornton, age 19 of Duquesne were arrested and face charges of Possession with intent to deliver, person not to carry a firearm (Charles Jones) and drug paraphernalia charges. Police say the gun seized belonged to the girlfriend.

Detective Sgt. Long said the CRT (Critical Response Team) was activated which includes Lower Burrell and New Kensington Officers trained specifically for the type of response early Thursday morning.

Charles Jones is currently on State Parole after serving time for a homicide in 1999 and is not allowed to possess or be near a firearm. Also seized in the incident was a .380 Ruger, ammunition and a digital scale.

Both suspects were transported to New Kensington Lockup where they face a preliminary arraignment early Thursday afternoon.
