New Kensington woman transported to the hospital after crash in Lower Burrell

Lower Burrell, Pa. – One female driver is injured and transported to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Leechburg Road in Lower Burrell about 11:00 am Wednesday morning.

Lower Burrell Police Sgt. Scott Miller told AKVNEWS.COM the New Kensington woman told police she was driving her daughter to work when she fell asleep and hit a utility pole snapping it completely off nearly rolling the vehicle over before coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway.

Damages to the small 4-door black sedan were extensive. Leechburg Road will be shut down for several hours pending arrival of West Penn Power for pole replacement and wire repairs. It was not immediately known how many customers might be affected by a power outage. Traffic is being detoured around the crash scene at Wayne Avenue and Clarendon Avenue.
