New Kensington Police release details of officer-involved shooting Friday afternoon

New Kensington, Pa. – New Kensington Police department released the following information on the officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 2:30 pm in the area of 4th Street in New Kensington.

According to the release, multiple calls to authorities were placed for a male walking with a shotgun in the area of 4th Street. Multiple police units from Arnold, Lower Burrell and New Kensington responded to find a male individual identified as Marc Morgan, age 62 walking on Center Avenue halfway up the hill near the steps.

During the encounter, Officers fired upon Morgan after he brandished a shotgun at officers. Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene by Westmoreland County Coroners Office.

The shooting incident is being investigated by the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office and the Westmoreland County Coroners Office. The investigation into the incident is on-going.
