New Kensington, Pa. – Well liked and well loved, New Kensington Fire Chief J. Edward Saliba was laid to rest Saturday morning at Union Cemetery in Arnold after hundreds of friends, family and fellow firefighters gathered to pay their final respects.

Chief Saliba served as chief for 32 years in the City of New Kensington until he retired in 2010. Saturday’s turnout under beautiful skies was a testament to the character of the man who made so many friends in the community and fire service for many years.

Even after retirement, Chief Saliba could be seen at fire scenes in New Kensington participating in a service he loved. The chief’s turnout gear could be seen placed at the rear of New Kensington Engine Company #3 fire truck as the procession made its way to Union Cemetery.

Chief Saliba was a man who not only loved his community, but was loved equally well by the community he served.

RIP Chief J. Edward Saliba.
