Harwick man arrested after purchase of drugs in New Kensington

New Kensington, Pa. – A Harwick man was arrested by New Kensington Police after being dispatched to an area of North Street and Taylor Avenue for an illegal drug transaction taking place.

Police Sgt. Kevin J. Hess said the male purchasing the drugs was described as a white male with dark clothing and a loose hat or rag on his head. The suspect was reported to be walking on North Street.

Police made contact with the male and identified him as Joshua Allen Patrick Ritter, age 22 of Harwick. Ritter told police he was from Harwick and appeared nervous complaining to police that he was just walking. While conversing with Ritter, Ritter denied that he had anything on his person. After consent for a search, Ritter was observed dropping a small baggie from his pants pocket. The baggie had a brown powder substance, known to Police Officer Hess as suspected raw heroin. The bag was collected and Ritter was placed under arrest.

Inside a backpack, a copious amount of empty stamp bags were also located and collected as evidence.
