Harrison Police investigate train vs. car incident in Natrona

Natrona, Pa. – Police in Harrison Township investigated a train vs. vehicle wreck at the Philadelphia Street crossing in Natrona about 7:45 am Monday morning.

Sources reported there were no injuries to the female driver in the incident. Motorists are reminded to never skirt the crossing arms and to look both ways before crossing the tracks. This is the second train incident over the past several days.

The Cheswick incident on May 10, 2019: Cheswick, Pa. – There were no injuries to report after an Eastbound Norfolk Southern train hits the rear of a tractor-trailer that ended up approximately 50’s from the point of impact coming to a stop next to a brick structure.

The incident occurred about 4:00 pm in the 1000 block of Freeport Road in Cheswick. Sources at the scene said the driver of the flatbed truck had made a delivery in the Blockdale Street area and was crossing the tracks with an empty trailer when it was struck.

The three engines came to a final stop right near the Cheswick Police Station. Trailer debris was still attached to the front of the engine. The operator of the truck did not appear injured and stay near his tractor while wrecking crews from Terry’s and Son of Brackenridge pulled the flatbed trailer away from the brick structure.

It was not immediately know how fast the train was moving through the area, but typical speeds range from 15-35 mph.
