Harrison Township, Pa. – A Harrison Township man lost control of the vehicle he was driving shearing off a telephone pole in the 1100 block of Freeport Road in Harrison Township late Friday night at 11:52 pm.

Brackenridge Fire Chief Rick Jones said crews arrived on scene within minutes of the crash needing to pop the drivers door to extricate the patient. Chief Jones said the call came in as a possible rollover. A medical helicopter was immediately dispatched to Allegheny Valley Hospital for transport of the victim to a Pittsburgh hospital.

At the scene, the blue VW 4-door sedan sustained significant damage to the right front of the vehicle where it appeared initial impact with the utility pole took place. The drivers side of the vehicle also sustained significant damages. The impact of the crash blew out the windshield and sheared the utility pole possibly causing the vehicle to roll backwards into a residential yard. Pioneer crews cut the leaning utility pole reducing a safety concern and allowing the utility line itself to straighten up with reduced height.
