A grandmother faces charges after someone found a toddler walking down a busy road in Clay County.
On Thursday afternoon, March 27, deputies arrested Marie Kelley, 79, for child abuse and contributing to a minor charge.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that a motorist noticed Kelley’s grandson strolling down Tibbee Road and phoned 911.
According to the sheriff, the two-year-old ran away after Kelley allegedly whacked him several times with a switch.
Scott stated that the boy received multiple wounds and welts on his body, including his head. The incident culminated in a criminal child abuse charge.
Scott stated that the youngster is currently in the custody of Youngster Protection services.
