East Deer warrant suspect apprehended in New Kensington Friday evening

New Kensington, Pa. – Police in New Kensington assisted East Deer Township Police after a warrant suspect had been located in the 1500 block Ridge Avenue just after 6:00 pm Friday night.

New Kensington Police set up a small perimeter on a residence after the Creighton suspect would not come to the door, forcing police to secure a search warrant on the residence before entry was made through the front door. Four New Kensington Police Officers approached the front door of the residence with a battering ram and broke through the lock entering the residence. Once inside, police shouted, “Police-search warrant” and aggressively searched the residence locating the male in a closet who surrendered without incident.

The suspect, Cory Sober, age 19 of Creighton was wanted on a host of charges involving F1 ENDANGERING WELFARE OF CHILDREN 04/22/2019, F3 FLEEING OR ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE POLICE
OFFICER, M PROHIBITED ACTS, M DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL and on 05/30/2019 charges of F3 FLIGHT TO AVOID APPREHENSION, TRIAL OR PUNISHMENT and multiple summary charges stemming from a separate incident with East Deer Police.

New Kensington Police officers assisted New Kensington EMS on removing Sober from the residence who was put on a stretcher and brought out the front door. He was later transported to Allegheny Valley Hospital with an escort from East Deer Township Police.
