Criminal homicide charges filed in death of infant

Allegheny County, Pa. – Additional charges have been filed against 25-year-old Sharena Nancy, the woman who had been previously charged with the disappearance of 2-year-old Nalani Johnson. Today, County Police have filed charges of criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse against Nancy. These new charges are in addition to her prior charges: the kidnapping of a minor, concealing the whereabouts of a child, and interference with custody of children.

Nancy will remain in the Allegheny County Jail and be arraigned on the new charges.

On August 31, 2019, Nalani was abducted by Sharena Nancy in Penn Hills. Sharena was quickly identified after the abduction and located a few hours later; however, Nalani remained missing. A search for Nalani continued until shortly after 4 PM on September 3 when she was discovered deceased in Pine Ridge Park, Indiana County.

A post-mortem examination was coordinated through the Indiana County Coroner’s Office. On October 23, Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. released his official coroner’s report. Overman ruled Nalani’s manner of death to be a homicide.
