Allegheny County – County Police have released a photo of a person of interest in a robbery at the Meadows Off Track Betting facility in Harmar Township that occurred on November 25, 2019.
Harmar Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a robbery at the facility at approximately 9:57 AM and requested the assistance of the County Police. Detectives determined that a lone female employee arrived for work and began to prepare the establishment for the day’s business.
The building was still locked at this point and she believed she was alone. As she was moving about the interior, she encountered a male who demanded her car keys and barricaded her in a room with no phone. The female victim was not injured. There were no signs of forced entry into the structure and it is not clear how the robber gained entry.
The robber then collected paper currency from the safe and placed it in a black trash bag. He exited the building and used the woman’s vehicle to flee the area. That vehicle is described as a 2005 Ford Escape (SUV), dark gray in color, bearing PA Wildlife Conservation plate WR 23951 depicting an owl, a Slippery Rock sticker in the rear window and a Slippery Rock University parking sticker on the upper driver’s side windshield.
The vehicle has missing trim from the driver’s side front fender. A photo of a vehicle similar to the one that was stolen was also released. The robber is described as a black male approximately 5’4” tall with a medium build. The victim described him as having some sort of mask covering his face. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket with the hood pulled up over a light color ball cap.
Anyone with information concerning the identity of the person of interest, having seen a vehicle matching the description, or has information regarding the incident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tipline at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477); callers can remain anonymous.
