County Police Investigating Shooting in Penn Hills, victim dies at hospital

Penn Hills, Allegheny County – UPDATE – At 10:36 AM this date the victim was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office will release additional details at the appropriate time.

On Friday, March 27, 2020, at approximately 11:00 pm Penn Hills Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Evaline Street for shots fired and a male shot. Once on scene, responding officers found a 42-year-old male on Evaline Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper left leg.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and the victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The victim is currently listed in critical condition.

Detectives with the Allegheny County Police Homicide Section responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the victim and his red Chevrolet Malibu were struck by gunfire while traveling on Bon Air Drive just before Frankstown Road.

Evidence at the scene suggested that the victim lost control of his vehicle after being shot. The vehicle left the roadway on Frankstown Road causing damage to an abandoned property there before continuing through a wooded area and coming to rest on an Evaline Street property.

Detectives are conducting a further investigation into the shooting incident to determine a motive and identify suspects.
