Coroner Update: Two men die in fatal crash early Wednesday morning

Armstrong County, Pa. – Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers released the following report after a tragic early morning crash on SR 28 about 2.5 miles from Distant.

Coroner Myers said Tyler J. Zeigler,26, of Butler and Mark L. Kirkpatrick,59, of Summerville and were both fatally injured when the truck Zeigler was driving crossed the double yellow line and struck Kirkpatrick’s truck head on. This incident happened on State Route 28/66, measuring 971 feet north of Deanville Rd.

Tyler J. Zeigler of Butler was the driver of a 2016 Gray Dodge Ram 2500 traveling northbound on State Route 28/66 when he crossed the double yellow line striking a 2019 Ford F-250 going southbound driven by Mark Kirkpatrick of Summerville, Clarion Co., PA. Both subjects sustained multiple blunt force traumas. Zeigler was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Brian K. Myers. Kirkpatrick was transport to ACMH Hospital where he was pronounced. The causes of deaths were multiple blunt force traumas. The manner of death was ruled accidental. The incident is still under investigation by the Armstrong Co. Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police.

Funeral arrangements for Zeigler are being handled by Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg and Kirkpatrick’s are being handled by Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn. Autopsy and Toxicology is pending.

The Coroner’s office was assisted at the scene by PSP Kittanning, , Dayton VFD, Distant VFC, New Bethlehem VFC, and Clarion EMS.
