Cheswick man suffers severe leg injury after sportbike crash in Harrison Township

Harrison Township, Pa. – A 19 year-old Cheswick man suffers a severe leg injury after a 2-vehicle crash in Harrison Township at the intersection of Freeport Road and Saxonburg Road just before 10:00 am Thursday morning. The identification of the drive was not immediately known.

On scene: Harrison Police said the driver of the Ducati sport bike struck the front end of a Ford Focus as the elderly woman was making a left turn onto Saxonburg Road from Freeport road when the collision occurred.

The motorcycle driver struck the left front of the Ford Focus traveling Southbound and continued up an embankment traveling more than 180′ before coming to rest at the pavement entrance to Czekalski Real Estate. Heavy plastic part debris was cleaned from the embankment and roadway by Citizen’s Hose Fire Department.

A trail of torn-up grass on the embankment showed the length of the motorcycle’s path after the initial impact. The speedometer on the sport bike was shown to be stuck at 90 mph. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Allegheny General Hospital by Citizens Hose EMS with a broken leg. The woman, who was reported to be from the 908 area of Fawn Township was given a ride back to her residence by Harrison Police.
