Brackenridge Police arrest Oakmont man after theft inside Devil Dog Saloon

Brackenridge, Pa. – Police in Brackenridge quickly responded to the Devil Dog Saloon around the noon hour after a reported purse snatching from a patron in the bar.

Brackenridge Law Enforcement Officer Josh Grafton said the suspect went inside the saloon, struck up a conversation with the victim and when she looked away, he took her purse and fled the scene. Officer Grafton said he reviewed camera footage and was able to gain a description of the suspect; then with the help of Harrison Township Police the vehicle was located in an alley a short distance from the scene just minutes later.

The suspect, identified as 35 year-old Garrett Moser of Oakmont, resisted arrest upon contact with police and was detained/handcuffed at the scene. Through the course of the investigation, police were able to locate the purse at the feet of the suspect in plain view. A sweatshirt worn by the suspect was also recovered. The driver of the vehicle was not directly involved in the theft of the purse, but only asked by the suspect for a ride.

Officer Grafton said suspect Moser faces several charges including theft by taking, receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. AKVNEWS.COM will update the charges once they are formally documented.

The suspect was being transported to the Allegheny County jail by Brackenridge Police at about 5:00 pm Monday afternoon. No injuries were reported in the incident.
