Arnold Police apprehend New Kensington armed robbery suspect Friday night

Arnold, Pa. – A New Kensington man is apprehended after an armed robbery occurs in the 1100 block of 5th Avenue in the City of New Kensington just before 6:00 pm Friday evening.

New Kensington Detective Sgt. Matt Saxman said the incident involved a known actor and occurred at the Burrell Building, Valley Royal Court. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled the scene and was later identified as Lorenzo M. Pearson, age 22 of New Kensington.

Police units in surrounding communities were notified of the incident and at approximately 6:15 pm, Arnold Police were able to locate the vehicle Pearson fled in that was being driven by an unidentified female driver. Arnold Police, along with the assistance of New Kensington Police and Tarentum Police, stopped a Silver Cadillac at the intersection of 15th Street and Fifth Avenue after recognizing the passenger as Lorenzo Pearson. Arnold Police said as they approached the Cadillac, Pearson ran from police but was apprehended as short time later.

Arnold Police said 2 firearms were laying in the floorboard of the Cadillac. Also seized was a bag of marijuana, 2 digital scales, 2 cell phones, miscellaneous items and cash. Pearson was transported to the Arnold Police Station for processing, awaiting pick-up by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office for transport to the Westmoreland County Jail.

Pearson was unable to make bail set at straight $75,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on 06/27/2019 10:00 am.
