Allegheny County Police Investigating Pedestrian Struck by Train

Baldwin Borough, Allegheny County – At approximately 6:13 AM this morning, July 31, 2019, City of Pittsburgh Police and Paramedics were dispatched to the area of East Carson Street and Glenwood Bridge for an adult male struck by a train.

When officers and medics arrived on scene, they discovered the male in the middle of the train tracks and pronounced him deceased. City of Pittsburgh Police verified the location was within the jurisdiction of Baldwin Borough and notified Baldwin Borough Police who requested the assistance of Allegheny County Police Homicide detectives.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned at 6:13 AM a CSX train traveling east observed the victim lying on the tracks and notified emergency services. It is not believed the victim was killed by this train. Detectives are working with investigators from CSX to acquire train schedules and other information to determine the circumstances which led to the victim being struck by the train.
