A Dominican national wanted for homicide in his native country was apprehended in Boston by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Marshals Service, according to authorities.

ICE The unidentified man was arrested on March 19, according to Boston officials. He was wanted for homicide on a Dominican arrest warrant issued on July 4, 2017. Authorities claim he entered the United States unlawfully, without being inspected, admitted, or paroled by immigration officials.
“This Dominican fugitive attempted to undermine the justice system in his home country by hiding out in Massachusetts,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde.
Joint federal effort leads to capture
The arrest was made as part of a concerted action including ICE Boston officers, DEA New England agents, and Boston U.S. Marshals Service deputies. Officials did not say how the individual was discovered or caught.
ICE indicated that its Boston office is still committed to removing criminal foreign nationals who pose a threat to the public.
Maximum penalty of 30 years for homicide
According to Dominican officials, the maximum sentence for homicide is 30 years in jail. The suspect is still in federal detention pending further immigration proceedings.
