Authorities found Shade with numerous weapons, including a kitchen knife strapped to his leg. According to authorities, he arrived on a motorcycle carrying a sheath with a sword and nun chucks.
Shade, a convicted felon forbidden from possessing firearms, was found guilty by a jury in July of
On Tuesday, March 26, Lancaster County Judge Jeffrey Conrad sentenced him to between 15 and 30 years in state prison. Assistant District Attorney Christopher Miller prosecuted the case.
Shade was also implicated in a wrongful death complaint involving a catastrophic house fire in Columbia Borough that killed a young mother and her infant on January 4, 2020.
Shade, then a property manager, was collecting rent on a South 2nd Street home where Cami Jo Combs, 20, and her 2-year-old daughter, Callie Jo Flowers, died in a fire that broke out just minutes after other family members departed for a doctor’s visit.
According to the claim, there were no operational smoke detectors. Shade and the property owner were charged with breaking safety codes and failing to address hazardous situations.
Shade and the owner reached a $42,500 settlement in November 2023, following years of litigation. The cash was paid for through insurance.
