Man Apprehended After Social Media Video Shows Alleged Animal Cruelty In Escambia County

A 49-year-old Pensacola man was arrested Thursday evening after a video surfaced on social media of him allegedly injuring a dog.

Many viewers asked WEAR News to bring the man in the video to justice. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Charles David Thornton II.

According to the sheriff’s office, Animal Control referred the case back to them after doing further investigation.

Following the case exchange, Thornton will now face a charge of “cruelty to an animal.”

Thornton is in the Escambia County Jail without bond.
