UPDATE: One Dauphin County fire victim has been identified; four dogs also died in the incident.
The local fire department reports that two persons died in a house fire in Lower Paxton Township on Sunday morning.
Lower Paxton Deputy Fire Chief Brett Graham said the fire occurred at a property on Fairfax Drive, a dead-end residential lane off Conway Drive, and was reported by a neighbor at 10:19 a.m.
Crews responded to a “active fire in the home,” according to Graham, but were able to get the blaze under control very quickly. The stone above the split-level home’s front entry bore black markings, and the windows suffered shattered damage.
Graham stated that investigators were not yet ready to corroborate additional facts, and he could not tell whether the deceased individuals made it out of the home before succumbing or if anyone else was present at the time.
On Sunday afternoon, people observed county detectives closely examining the covered bodies on the front lawn.
Graham stated that more details should become available later today.
