Westmoreland County District Judge’s son faces multiple drug charges

Murrysville, Pa. – State Police arrested a Lower Burrell man after pulling him over for an alleged traffic violation on SR. 22 in Murrysville last Wednesday evening.

Arrested in the incident was Stephen Yakopec III, age 28 and son of Westmoreland County District Magistrate Cheryl Peck-Yakopec. According to the criminal complaint, officers found 14 pounds of marijuana wrapped in a 1-pound plastic bag in his vehicle.

Subsequently, agents went to the Yakopec’s residence along Delberta Drive in Lower Burrell and confiscated an additional 7-8 pound of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Cash and handguns were also found in the residence.

A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled on 08/16/2018 @ 1:30 pm before the Honorable Magisterial District Judge Herbert G. Mitchell Jr. Yakopec was released on $50,000 unsecured bond.
