Vehicle crosses centerline in Leechburg Road crash

Allegheny Township, Pa. – One person is injured and transported to the hospital after a 2-vehicle crash early Monday afternoon along Leechburg Road (SR56) and White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township.

Allegheny Township Police Chief Duane Fisher said the crash occurred after a westbound Hyundai driver crossed the center-line of the roadway and struck the side of a Ford pickup causing severe damage to both vehicles. The operator of the Hyundai was not wearing a seat-belt, according to Chief Fisher.

According to the initial dispatch call, police reported possible entrapment to the driver of the Hyundai who sustained a head injury. The windshield on the drivers side of the Hyundai was shattered from what appeared to be heavy impact. Additional medical assistance was requested by Lower Kiski EMS from an Allegheny Valley Hospital paramedic response unit to assist with the patients medical condition.

Chief Fisher said the operator of the Hyundai is a resident of Allegheny Township and the driver of the Ford truck is from Vandergrift. The truck driver was not injured.

Assisting police at the scene with traffic control were Markle VFD and Allegheny Township VFD. Kochka and Son Towning of Vandergrift removed both vehicles from the crash scene.
