Valley High School dismissed early due to high water along Pucketa Creek

New Kensington, Pa. – Heavy rains in the Alle-Kiski Valley continue Monday morning prompting officials at Valley High School to dismiss students early after rising flood waters along Little Pucketa Creek pose potential flooding issues of the parking lot area and district buildings.

At the school: Little Pucketa Creek waters were roaring past the school in what is normally a calm creek as school buses were seen leaving the parking lot near the high school stadium entrance. The district’s notice to dismiss came out about 10:10 Monday morning in the hopes of having all students by 10:30 am.

At 11:30, no flooding was seen in front of the school however a walking path from 7th Street headed towards the school was blocked off with yellow tape due to the path being under water. Weather reports indicate the 3 day soaking is expected to taper off Monday afternoon.
