Two individuals rescued after canoe incident on the Kiskiminetas river

Kiskiminetas River – Vandergrift Area, Pa. – Fire companies from Allegheny Township, Markle and Vandergrift were summoned to the Kiskiminetas River about 3:30 pm Friday afternoon after a canoeing incident leaving both individuals in the water needing rescued.

The latest word at 4:00 pm were that both individuals were able to get to the shoreline to be picked up on the Westmoreland side of the river and transported downstream. Radio chatter indicated neither individual was injured. Crews from the area assembled in quick fashion prepared to launch boats from Parks Township and Vandergrift if needed.

The incident occurred about 100 yards North of the Whiteys Road area.
