Springdale Borough Police respond to shots fired call

Springdale Borough, Pa. – Police in Springdale Borough and surrounding units responded to a Marion Avenue address after a caller reported 5-6 shots fired as he was sitting in his vehicle outside the residence.

Acting Police Chief Derek Dayoub said officers Duncan and Vanwhy received multiple calls for shots fired on Marion Ave. Upon arrival and after speaking with witnesses, police determined extra units were needed. Frazer PD, Springdale Township and Cheswick PD responded for backup, setting up a perimeter and began checking the area. Police proceeded to the house and made contact with the owner.

After checking the house, it was determined that it was possibly a rapid series of fireworks set off in the alley behind the house. No shell casings or any other indicators of gun shots were found. The elderly homeowner fully cooperated and stated she was alone in the house, which was confirmed by police.

All units cleared at 9:57 pm.
