Reopening of Allegheny County Golf Courses Postponed Until April 13

PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Parks Department recently announced that it is postponing the reopening of North Park and South Park golf courses until Friday, April 13, weather and conditions permitting. More than 10” of snow and nearly 4” of rain have fallen since the courses closed for annual maintenance on March 19.

“Persistent rain and snowfall over the past three weeks have hampered our annual maintenance operations and left our courses saturated,” said Parks Director Andy Baechle. “Under these conditions, attempting any kind of work, such as mowing, aerating or rolling, could severely damage the courses.

We’re hoping that drier weather and warmer temperatures in the coming weeks will result in better conditions.” When the courses open for the spring/summer season, daily operating hours will be from dawn to dusk, weather and conditions permitting.
