Off-duty police officer’s car struck by bullet

PITTSBURGH, PA – At approximately 2:37 a.m., on August 3, Zone 4 Officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of Browns Hill Road for a report of shots fired that was radioed in by an off-duty Pittsburgh Police Officer.

The female officer was in uniform and driving her personal vehicle after completing her shift. While stopped at the intersection of Beechwood Boulevard and Browns Hill Road, the Officer observed a dark red/maroon vehicle, possibly a Ford Mustang, drive into the parking lot of the Speedway gas station and coming to a stop in the parking lot.

As the Officer proceeding down Browns Hill Road, she passed a newer model silver four-door sedan with dark tinted windows as it slowed in the southbound curb lane of Browns Hill, slightly past the Speedway parking lot. She heard a loud pop and observed the silver sedan turn right onto Imogene Road. The Officer pulled into another parking lot to check her vehicle and discovered that there was a bullet hole in the rear passenger door. She was not injured.

Browns Hill Road was briefly closed while Officers checked for shell casings or any other evidence on the roadway where the incident occurred. Nothing was found.
