New Kensington, Pa. – A new Verizon Wireless cell tower is being installed on the property of the Municipal Authority of the City of New Kensington over the past two days and is now highly visible from Freeport Road and other areas in Arnold and New Kensington.

Workers have been busy climbing the tower making provisions for additional tower hardware that will stand approximately 140′ tall when completed. The new tower is being installed to replace an older obsolete 100′ tower originally built for voice communications. The new tower will hold modern wireless communication hardware boosting data coverage throughout the area.

As part of the agreement to install this new tower on the property of the Municipal Water Authority, a portion of the tower will be used to benefit communications for the local water authority.

The site is located along Camp Avenue just off Freeport Road in New Kensington.
