New Kensington, Pa. – Multiple fire crews are on scene of a house fire in the 500 block of 4th Avenue that possibly started on the second floor in a rear bedroom.

The intense fire was quickly knocked down by firefighters, but not before spreading to a house next door. Fire crews were primarily working on the initial house that caught fire checking for extensions. Hoses were seen running through both front doors of each residence.

Many of the houses on 4th Avenue have just feet between the structures that make firefighting difficult and accelerates the spread of fire to a next door neighbors house.

As of 4:40 pm, crews were working in the upstairs and attic of the structure. Several younger people were seen crying on the street and one person was put on a gurney and transported up the street to an awaiting EMS truck. It was not known if this individual was transported from the scene.
