New Kensington, Pa. – First Assistant Chief Ed Saliba Jr. said New Kensington fire companies 1, 3, and 2 were dispatched to the 800 block of Industrial Boulevard for a working structure fire as confirmed by New Kensington Police early Saturday morning. The fire broke out about 4:43 at the HR Curry company and resulted in additional companies being dispatched from New Kensington and a RIT team from Lower Burrell.

Chief Saliba said the companies performed forceable entry to gain access to the fire on the front and side of the building. Within a half hour to 45 minutes, the fire under control and crews were performing overhall operations.

50 volunteers were on the scene since to battle the blaze that appears to be accidental in nature. A state police fire Marshall has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire. There were no injuries. Chief Saliba said the crews did a great job in stopping the fire with a quick response and a great turnout.

This is the second time fire has hit the building since June 22, 2017.
