Coroner identifies fisherman in Butler County accident

Butler County, Pa. – First responders in Butler County are on scene of a possible rescue after reports of someone falling through the ice Monday morning.

Update @ 1:44 pm Tuesday: The Butler County coroner identified the victim as Pierre Niesen Jr., 71, of the Pittsburgh area. Emergency crews recovered the body after a witness called for help.

Update @ 1:52 pm Monday: Sources are reporting the body of a Pittsburgh man has been recovered from the lake at Morraine State Park.

Original Story: Searchers are active looking for the missing fisherman. Sources at the scene said fishing gear was seen in the area where a man was fishing. Dive teams are gearing up at the noon hour. Beaver Falls Swift Water Rescue is also on scene.

Westmoreland County 911 dispatched Support 610 Services to Butler County for an assist. It was not immediately known if the support services were called for dive team rescue or rehab. The incident occurred at Lake Author in Morraine State Park about 10:00 am.
