Wednesdays shooting in New Kensington remains under investigation

New Kensington, Pa. – One male is shot in New Kensington near the corner of Kenneth Avenue and Catalpa Street just before 9:30 pm Wednesday night.

At the scene: Medics were tending to a male who was laying in the middle of Catalpa Street as another EMS truck arrived to provide transport to the 19th Street ballfield in Arnold where LifeFlight had landed. The male was packaged for transport to a Pittsburgh Hospital.

Witnesses at the scene said they heard 6-8 shots being fired and screeching tires. No further information is available on a possible suspect vehicle. Westmoreland County detectives are investigating the incident as multiple evidence markers could be seen along Catalpa Street. New Kensington firefighters were providing utility lighting to assist county detectives.
