Leechburg, Pa. – Firefighters in Leechburg battled an early morning house fire located at 119 Main Street just after 7:00 am Sunday morning.
In spite of the cold weather, multiple departments from the surrounding areas of Leechburg responded primarily with tankers in lieu of possible hydrants being frozen as temperatures hovered around -8 degrees under bright sunny skies.
AKVNEWS on Scene: When AKVNEWS arrived on scene, Main Street was shut down as crews worked at the rear of the 2 story structure with ladders focusing on the second floor attack.
Heavy damage was seen at the rear of the structure from the first floor to the second floor as fire crews continued to pour water from a hand line through a second story window.
Radio reports indicated part of the floor burned through.
The cause and occupancy was not immediately known. Assisting at the scene was Lower Kiski EMS, Gilpin, Allegheny Township, Markle, Washington Twp, Kiski Twp and other departments.
