Harrison Township, Pa. – Allegheny County fire officials have ruled the commercial building fire at 1300 Alabama Avenue as accidental in nature after a thorough investigation to determine the actual cause of the fire.

The term “accidental” defined: • natural (lightning, spontaneous combustion) • incendiary (arson) • accidental (careless smoking, defective power equipment) • undetermined (unable to prove) An accidental fire can be defined as one which was ignited or spread due to unintentional human design or action.

Two firefighters required minor treatment in Monday’s fire. No other injuries were reported.

Harrison Township officials have ordered the demolition of the building due to a rear portion of the structure having blown out creating an unsafe condition for a near-by resident. Those residents won’t be able to move back in until the demolition is complete.

Demolition will start once insurance investigators complete their own investigations.
